Podcast, book & marketing recommendations for creative businesses

There is so much information out there and trawling through all the many platforms & sources can be so time consuming.

Well we have done the work for you.
Our September ‘WOW’ list includes our favourite reads, listens, techy tips & marketing recommendations for creative businesses
We hope our discoveries will inspire, motivate and entertain!

Our favourite book

‘Little Black Book – A Toolkit For Working Women’ by Otegha Uwagba – this is the perfect little book to have at your bedside and pick up when you need a little boost. Wise advice without being preachy. We particularly like the words of wisdom from inspirational women. ‘Because you deserve better than made up Marilyn Monroe quotes’ ~ Otegha Uwagba

Our favourite magazine

91 Magazine – We consistently consume content online but sometimes we like to sit down with a cup of tea and flick through an actual magazine, the old fashioned way! This beautiful magazine includes monthly features about influential instagrammers, creative spaces and has monthly hashtag projects perfect for creative business owners to join in. We love how it is so closely linked to the online community and it isn’t stuffed with off putting adverts!

Our favourite podcast

Grow With Soul – Kayte Ferris – We are avid podcast listeners!  We listen when we’re: in the car, on a run, cooking the dinner, in the shower. It’s such an easy way to consume content and learn!  We are loving Kayte’s podcast that started during the summer. We were already fans of her blog and Insta feed and we love her outlook on life and business. Kayte interviews creative business owners who are starting their journey (which is so refreshing) rather than fully fledged success stories that can be intimidating.

Our favourite community

Indie Rollercoaster – The Rollercoaster of Running an Indie Business: A community of creative business owners with an active Facebook group, an uplifting, open & honest space to discuss business obstacles, share useful information and encourage fellow indie biz owners. Community over competition is their wonderful mantra!

Our favourite app

Tailwind – We truly believe this app is the key to Pinterest success!  Pinning consistently 10 – 20 per day can take over your week. However, sign up to tailwind and you can allocate a couple of hours a week to scheduling and let tailwind do the work for you. There is a free trial so you can get to grips with it and then pay monthly or annually. Works out £7-10 per month and worth every penny!

Our favourite Pinterest Tip

Create beautiful lifestyle shots of your products. Put your products in context. Place next to objects that give people a better idea of the product’s size. What would your product look like in everyday life? What kind of lifestyle does your brand represent? For more tips download our ‘Pinterest For Creative Businesses 10 Top Tips’

Our favourite Pinterest Account

Our Food Stories – Swoon over their beautiful food photography and styling. They are the masters!

Our favourite creative business

KT Robbins Ceramics – Katie is a ceramicist who loves working with porcelain. Her hand thrown ceramics are inspired by the natural world, in particular the coastline with its breaking waves and eroding rocks, but equally the British countryside – leaves, flowers as well as organic patterns and surfaces.

Our favourite free download

Humphrey & Grace – free download on iPhone photography – This brilliant free download looks at making the most of the camera on your phone. From shortcuts and practical tips to optional extras that will takehttps://www.humphreyandgrace.co.uk/iphone-photography/ your iPhone photographs to the next level.
