HOW TO GROW YOUR EMAIL LIST WITH PINTEREST

How To Grow Your Email List With Pinterest | CURLY CARROT Digital Marketing

Pinterest is such an effective marketing tool at driving web traffic to your online business. Having implemented our tips, tricks and strategies for both our own businesses and our clients it has become the number one traffic driver for all!

Pinterest is also a great way to grow your email list. We’ll show you how!

Why is an email list so important for ANY business?

You own your email list. It’s yours and no one can take it away.

You don’t own your social media channels and other platforms therefore have no control over them. All social media platforms can change and switch things whenever they choose. Accounts can be hacked and lost, which very recently happened to one of our clients. Resulting in 3 years worth of work lost in an instant. Frustratingly, this can dramatically affect your visibility despite all your hard work and efforts.

Luckily, you do have control of your mailing list. So even if tomorrow, Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook or Twitter changes something, you’ll still have an email list full of loyal followers who are ready and waiting to hear from you, see your content and open your emails.

YOUR STEP BY STEP GUIDE ON HOW TO GROW YOUR EMAIL LIST WITH PINTEREST

STEP 1 – SIGN UP FOR AN EMAIL MARKETING PLATFORM

Finding a digital email marketing service email provider is the first step. There are so many to chose from: Flodesk, Mailchimp, klaviyo and MailerLite are just a few examples. It’s worth taking some time to do a little research to find out which platform might suit your business best. With most platforms you can get started for free up to a certain number of subscribers, which is a nice way to try it out.

STEP 2 – CREATE AN EMAIL SIGNUP FORM OR USE AN EXISTING ONE

Creating a special signup form or landing page with signup form ONLY for Pinterest users allows you to track the traffic coming from Pinterest, which can be very helpful.

STEP 3 – CREATE A LEAD MAGNET THAT SOLVES A PROBLEM OR HELPS YOUR CUSTOMERS

A lead magnet is an incentive offer for potential clients in exchange for their email address. You have to be clear on what they will gain if they give over their email address. Lead magnet ideas for creative small businesses include:

  • A discount on first purchase
  • A free tutorial and ebooks
  • Toolkits and resource lists
  • Top tips and free guides
  • Checklist guide on how to use your product or service
  • A giveaway
  • Free trial for a service

STEP 4 – CREATE A PIN THAT SENDS YOUR CUSTOMERS DIRECTLY TO THE EMAIL SIGNUP FORM

  • Use Canva to create the recommended size Pin – 1000 x 1500 px
  • Include a clear, beautifully styled image of your product or service
  • Include a ‘Call To Action’ (CTA) for example ‘click here’, ‘discover’, ‘win’, ‘sign up’…etc
  • Use text overlay on your images to highlight your CTA, more details of your lead magnet and special details of your products or services
  • Add a keyword rich Pin title and Pin description to your Pin
  • Now add a link from your Pin to your landing page!
  • Make several ‘eye-catching’ Pins for each lead magnet you create
  • Save your Pins to different and relevant boards on your Pinterest account

STEP 5 – KEEP IN TOUCH!

Once people have signed up make sure you send them useful emails, regularly. Nurture your subscribers like your special community by offering tips and sending valuable content in your emails.

Although I actively embrace all forms of social media for myself and my clients, I have previously only ‘dabbled’ in Pinterest. It was after taking part in one of Dörte’s Pinterest coaching sessions that I truly began to find the love. Understanding that Pinterest is more of a search engine than a social media platform, and creating content that really works and drives traffic has been part of this journey.
