Productivity Tips To help you stay in control Of Your Creative Business

Are you desperate for ways to improve productivity and free up more of your time?

Are you spending hours ‘working’ but not actually getting a lot done?  Maybe you just need a little assistance in understanding ‘how’ to work.

These top productivity tips will help you achieve maximum efficiency in minimum time.

Stop Multitasking

You might think you’re good at it but it will fry your brain and sanity! Do One Thing at a Time. Finish a task before starting the next one. Resist letting small items interrupt big ones. Don’t stop what you’re in the middle of doing to do a 2 minute task just because it’s easy. Don’t answer that email just because you saw it drop into your inbox. By doing less you’ll accomplish more.

Take Breaks

Instead of constantly grinding through and therefore getting distracted take a break.
Taking regular working breaks will help to maintain your focus and productivity. Even if you feel like you’re too busy, working non-stop will lead you to  distraction.  Go for a walk, call a friend, have a snack, take a nap. A 10 minute power nap can boost your level of alertness and get you back on track for the rest of the day.

Block Out Distractions

If you want to get something done then turn off your phone, stop your notifications and get in the zone!

Work When Most Productive

Everyone has productivity slumps during the workday and times of the day when they are more productive and get stuff done! You might be fresher and focussed in the morning. Set your alarm and achieve more at your peak productive time so your slump time can be spent resting, exercising , or getting some fresh air. If you’re more productive in the evenings then save your important tasks for then.

Batch Similar Tasks Together

Choose a time of day to reply to emails rather than answering as they come in and interrupting another task. Assign mornings, afternoons and days for certain similar tasks. Monday could be your admin day, Tuesday your research day, Wednesday your content day, Thursday –  product photography, Friday – creative day. You then have your umbrella days and can assign tasks that fit under that umbrella and theme everyday. We like to do the tasks we enjoy the least at the start of the week and save what we enjoy the most for the end of the week. Of course these days aren’t set in stone and things that have to be completed crop up but organising your days could really increase your productivity and make you feel calmer. If you are going to implement one of our productivity tips into your working week make it this one!

Delegate and Outsource

The tasks you enjoy working on the least are normally the things that take the longest. Or they cause the most stress because you put them off and then have to make time at the last minute. These are the tasks you can look at outsourcing.
